Author Guidelines

The Brazilian Keynesian Review publishes original papers, in Portuguese or in English. The submission of a manuscript to the Journal implies that it has not been previously published and is not being considered for another publication.

The journal is structured in two sections. The first section receives traditional academic manuscripts which may not exceed 52,000 characters (with spaces), including bibliographical references, tables, graphs, and footnotes. Papers must contain an abstract (150 words), keywords, and JEL classification.

The second section of the journal contemplates manuscripts that discuss current Brazilian and/or World’s economic issues. Such papers may not exceed 18,000 characters (with spaces), including bibliographical references, tables, graphs, and footnotes. They must also contain an abstract (150 words), keywords, and JEL classification. Papers which do not attend these criteria will not be accepted for publication.

In addition, manuscripts submited with comments on published BKR papers shall also be considered. These papers should be critical analyses of articles published in the Journal; if they are accepted for publication, any aforementioned authors shall be entitled to a rejoinder in the same BKR issue; both the comment and the reply shall not exceed 15,000 characters.

Quoted authors may be identified in the text or in a footnote. When the quoted reference is not the original reference, the date of the original reference should appear in the text. Also, this date should be also be included in the bibliographic references at the end of the manuscript. It should come in parentheses, followed by the date of the edition used, in brackets. See the example below.

Keynes, J.M. (1936 [1996]), The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money. São Paulo: Nova Cultural.

When phrases are quoted within text, the page should always be indicated. If they exceed more than three lines, they should come in a separated paragraph and use font size 10; otherwise, it can be included in the paragraph.

Quotations and references of journal articles should always indicate the volume, the issue, and the number of the initial and final pages of the article. At the end of the article, the reference should be limited to the quoted papers and should obey the following format:

Prebisch, R. (1959), "Commercial policy in the underdeveloped countries", American Economic Review, 49(2), p. 251-73.

Articles shall only be submitted as long as they comply with the requirements above and deal with a subject specified in the Editorial Policies. The submission of a paper implies its authorization for publication in the Journal. No copyrights shall be paid.
